God. I'm happy i quit around the level 95 quests. I was in this zone and about to go to the train station but seeing the Spheeeeeen bullshit and all of that and how DT ends? I unsubbed and am sadly happy i did. This is atrocious and frankly stupidly offensive. We went from intelligent stories about life that made us think to... whatever this trash is. Do better, SE.

In my experience FFXIV's community is no different than other gaming communities. Yeah it might be more polite, but that doesn't necessarily make it nicer.

Early access has ruined launch for me, not only are all my friends already leveled on multiple toons but doing dungeons with randoms is already a speed grind fest. The player base should experience things together, spilting the playerbase like this has soured the game for me.

Back in my day, Gil was hard to come by and I was proud when I bought my first Medium in the Mists. I still have it 10 years later, because it's a plot close to the beach.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't super excited by the idea of going to Natlan, but seeing the amount of work they've put into it and the excitement that everyone has had in presenting it has really got me pretty curious. Despite having my issues with some aspects of the game, I would never dream of insulting or threatening a person personally because of it. It's genuinel abuse that the team has had to deal with and that really sucks. I'm glad to see Zepla's reaction to this because it always comes from a place of reason and empathy. I'm also glad that they've been able to hear the positive feedback amongst the negative. Now bring on the husbandos!

Well, imagine you are on his shoes when he got robbed in US (his car's window was smashed), people celebrating when that happened requesting to the robber to hack the game through Da Wei's laptop and because he is the face of the company he got a lot of threats as well and everytime something bad happened the community was celebrating. I really hate how Mihoyo community was so unhinge for years and it's keep getting worst for every game they made. 😑

I lost 6 houses. 4 small, 2 medium (probably the 2 best med plots in the game). All of that trying to make money to play FFXIV while the game was shitting on me with that bs. Now I can't even get a house because of the dumb lottery system.

I lost my medium but to be fair I felt so relieved. I wasn't chained to the game anymore and could take a longer break. I think if FC's were in wards and private houses should be instanced. Also I want a cabin in the woods, my WoL would have totally have build one while waiting to get to the first.

I pay my sub every month to keep my large plot and only log in about twice a month. Sorry I’m keeping the plot off the market, but as a 9 year vet and have 80mil worth of items in there, yeah, I’m paying rent!

The main issue with instanced housing for everyone (at a larger size anyways) is the data involved and server strain. You'd have thousands of people who stop playing the game, but the system would have to remember where every single decoration was in their houses that may or may not ever be accessed again. Eventually it would become untenable. I suppose you could have an inactivity archive function of some sort where everything just gets dumped into some inventory. I think expanded housing for people in the form of deluxe apartments is a good idea, but I don't want them to do anything that will place limits of current housing decoration in terms of the number of items. It's taken them over 5 years and we might FINALLY get to put more furniture in houses. If you've ever decorated a medium or large house in this game, you quickly realize how small the limits currently are.

Island Sanctuary with a house plot that only becomes available once the island is maxed out on everything else, say update it to rank 30 with a 7.x patch. Make the house the size of a mansion so players can have the full decorating experience, or perhaps even start at a small cottage and be able to upgrade it over time like the island, to eventually end up with the mansion size. Other people can already visit your island so having a private hangout spot for you and some friends doesn't get taken away. And if we could maybe add an aetheryte to the island that'd be great as well. Then for the people that want the neighborhood feel, that works better with more people anyway, so change the existing housing wards to only be for FC housing, and I don't know how they can do it, but they need to figure out some way to prevent one FC from buying up entire ward(s) of plots. For existing private housing owners, maybe something similar to the existing relocation option, just for a private residence instead of an FC house and it doesn't cost anything on top of what they've already spent buying the plot in the first place. That residence gets relocated to the player's island, and perhaps as a bonus for the inconvenience it's available regardless what rank their island is currently.

my wife and I were very sick for a long time. and when we came back to ffxiv, our m-house was gone with all the furniture and memorabilia from events and so on, gone and the fg was also deleted. and no, it's not a fair system. lotro and teso have much better house systems. especially when it comes to furnishing the houses, ffxiv can't hold a candle to teso...

I really liked it. It's no Heavensward to be sure, but I think it's great. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion but as a casual nerd looking for a place to hang out I think Dawntrail checked most of my boxes.

I wish the housing system had a refund option so you can get a refund of the gil you used to buy the plot. I'm stuck on my current server solely due to the 12-14 mil I payed for my medium plot back at the tail end of Stormblood. I want to give another FC or player the plot but I want to get my gil back

It's not fault, it's abuse. They are doing this 100% on purpose. Pretty much at the same time they started this, they also cut down the reward system for being subbed (like pretty much everything else). They got a lack of housing plots. Easy solution: more server power (FF14 got around 10% of the servers that WoW got... so there is a lot of room). Instead they abuse this for: a) saying that can't improve things, because servers are too weak (one of their most beloved excuses...) b) force you to stay subbed no matter how little there is to do, else you not only lose your house, but also short after everything in it... Imagine any other MMORPG would start to delete your stuff after unsubbing for 1-2 monthes.

they have enough houses for anyone that wants one if they limited to 1 person and a special system for FC. its really annoying seeing 1 person own an entire ward

Only way around this is having your fc as your house and inviting friends Alts. My house was there only cause my fc friends kept it alive with their alts

I understand the general distaste for the EA thing, but since there is no advantage to be gained and has likely contributed to the smoothest Expac launch ever i feel like its somewhat overblown.

It's fitting that most of the trailer scenes came form the end credits. Trailers are meant to showcase the best bits after all. My favorite part of DT was when I knew it was finally over.

after *millions* of gil invested in her house in ff14.. my wife got sick (she has lupus) and couldn't log in, I tried to log in for her but missed too many days all the same and she lost her house. Utterly killed her desire to even log in and when that happened I just decided to let my ff14 house go. Now to be fair our playing had been in decline for a while.. we'd been playing ff14 for 10 years (Since 1.0), had bought a house (IRL) not long ago, none of our friends played anymore so we were doing a LOT of PUG'ing, and honestly neither of us were really feeling the post-end-walker content.. We were simultaneously playing ff14 and gw2 so we just moved over to gw2 full time, I enjoyed kicking around with the FF14 housing system, for a while there we had people coming to our FC and personal houses to see my layouts and get ideas but eh.. such is life. Then Anet announced housing in GW2.... I have so many ideas and it'll never go *POOF* if I don't log in.

SE does this to keep your subs coming in vs. letting us turn them off for 3 to 9 months at a time when there is no new content. They could add a house to Island Sanctuary easily. I currently have zero need for any housing decorations because I refuse to fight the housing boards and want to be free to take a break here and there. My apartment has my retainer belt, hairdresser bell, and a couple rabbit NPC's to sell junk to. Oh and the random gifts you are given for quests that you can't sell. I throw them all in that place so it looks like a hoarders den!

You have to pay for all the houses in eso, whereas the FFXiv just relies on you using the house once you get it

I think it's unreasonable to ask that anything that isn't Extreme or higher content, which is a very small percentage of the overall game, has to be so easy that it's impossible to die the very first time that you do it; making the game boring for a lot of people because you want a super easy victory without much effort most of the time isn't fair.

You could start the video with saying the things that you did like maybe, but that's up to you.

If I could swap my house for an instanced one that had the same features otherwise and wouldn't get demolished, I would do so without a second thought. Sure I have the best possible housing district, lavender beds, but how often do you really just walk around the neighbourhood?

I agree with adding instanced housing instead of new districts but keeping the old housing wards as well. That way everyone can have a large property instanced, almost like a true housing island sanctuary thing. But if you want to fight for a rare house in the housing wards you can do that too. I have an apartment and medium Beds house along with the island and it would be cool to add an instant house to that. This way if my house is demolished it wouldn't be too devastating.

I didn't think the story was bad overall, nor did I think it was consistently great; I think it has great moments and that the second half was significantly more interesting than the first half and really moved me at times. It's not the worst story in the whole game by far; no expansion's storytelling is going to fall below A Realm Reborn's weak writing for instance.

Dissecting Preach's audience's reaction to Anduin, that's not what men want to see or idolise. It's not that the male role model can't be weak, but it's how it's portrayed. Anduin came across as whiny in game. The story where he may be more heroic in his time out was in a damn book. Men want Aragorn-like characters.

I think this is one of those L MMO takes. Instance housing kills any vibe of community, you won't see player running around, the value of having a house is then diminished. ESO housing while awesome for the individual as a much lighter community aspect. I think instance like mini apartments super small are fine, but the literal houses should still be something sought after and something that displays commitment to the game. I would rather have them just make more plots instead of instancing everything. But they can make the system better but changing it to instance housing is not the answer. Then when the vibe is completly destroyed and the stake that you put into the literal world is gone we are gonna have the same convo again couple of years later remember this cool feature that while had is pain points brought the feeling if a living breathing world to life man i wish it was back. Not saying the system is perfect but following int othe "Qol" or ease of access route is a slippery slope.

Legacy Tester Player (god I wish I still had that account, on steam now) and started back in HW after playing wow hardcore since 2004. I am a bit overly positive and defensive of the game but I am willing to admit issues lol.

Island would need a direct teleport as well. Having to go to a random place in La Noscia first is an annoyance.

Plenty MMOs do instanced housing. No one cares about them.

People always say they want instanced housing but island sanctuary proved they don’t. The fact that there are so many house owners who don’t even have a reason to go inside their houses is proof. They just want to hoard something they perceive to be in limited supply. If houses were only owned by people who actually used them then there would be way more than is needed already

FFXIV is the only MMO since Star Wars Galaxies to have neighborhoods. That makes them incredibly unique.

Almost all of my friends who has a house log in just to have their house. Its a joke.

Besides all the good ideas, I would love if they cracked down on people owning multiple houses. I checked out dynamis for the first time, and i saw over 10 plots being owned by the same person, if not just the same person on multi accounts

I think the way the housing system is far not just because its limited but if the fc or player is not engaging with housing someone who really wants to do thing will use it . I hate seeing the house next to me bought and nothing is built because some one is not really playing was like that in arr. The neighbor systems is kind of big for me when i was new we was in one fc and the fc next door was a better fit for us would have never found them at the time if it was not instance housing .
